Doppler tricks?

So my friend let me borrow her Doppler and idk if it's me or it but we could not find anything not even my heartbeat. I saw 148 come up on the screen but when I pushed the wand a little harder it went away. I assume that's baby. I will be 12 weeks tomorrow. Any advice?

Start at your pubic hair line and angle the Doppler down towards your tail bone. I actually watched a video online and was able to find the heart beat at 13+6 after doing what the video suggested.

At my 13 week appt I talked to the nurse about not being able to find Baby. She said a lot of times depending on baby's position it can be extremely difficult. She told me to try it with a full bladder, and push one side of your lower stomach down and press really hard on your stomach with the Doppler.

She also said that sometimes the Doppler will pick up the heartbeat but sometimes it's not loud enough to hear. I've had it happen several times.
