Should I accept a new job at 10 weeks?

I've been looking like crazy for a new job before I got pregnant because I am tired of traveling 70% of the year. I got a call back from an awesome company, interviewed and going back for a second interview. What is everyone's opinion on taking a job while pregnant, is it awful?

No, you're pregnant not defective. Do a great job, take your time off and return back brighter than ever. It's unfair to disqualify you because you are having a baby.

Thank you everyone for all the responses! It made my decision with accepting the new job much easier! I have short term disability now and will enroll in it with the new job as well so I will be covered for my maternity leave! Whew! So glad I'm not the only one in this boat. I'm starting a new job Monday and I'll be 10 +3 on my first day. Go for it, pregnancy isn't permanent, and shouldn't prevent you from taking a good job!

I emphatically second checking that you'll be eligible for maternity/health leave and comparing it to the benefits available with your current job. In America, you won't because you have to work at least a year to get unpaid leave from FMLA, assuming the new company even qualifies for FMLA. Likewise, company policies also usually have a minimum time before you can use them.

Will you be eligible for fmla at the new job? Normally you have to be at a company 1 Year to be eligible. Not sure if you're in the US though.

Absolutely! I worked up to the day after my due date when I had my daughter. No need to let an opportunity go by because of a baby. Good luck!
