What to do about work

So my job will be here whenever I return but I don't get any kind of paid leave. Our family depends on my income just as much as my partners and I am nervous that any amount of time off is going to put us extremely behind. Any suggestions?

I've been on bedrest already for 2 months. Luckily I have disability ins.  Do you have STD? (short term disability). Or maybe what my friend did is if you or your hubby have a 401k maybe take a loan out from there.  Hope maybe that helps.

Same here. I've been saving as much as I can since finding out I was pregnant, as well as finding ways to cut out expenses so doing it for 3 months won't be so bad. I figured out how much our monthly expenses are and am trying to save enough to cover what my husband's income doesn't.

If you've been employed for at least 12 months and the govt takes disability out of your checks, then you qualify for disability payments. Disability in CA is 55%, and there are other means to raise that percentage. Consult with your HR rep...it's worth it!

Very few companies in the U.S. offer paid leave. However, companies with 50+ employees have to provide you with some unpaid leave time. It's called the Family Medical Leave Act. You have to have been employed for 12 months though. Are you sure you won't be able to take a leave? My leave is 12 weeks but is unpaid. They will take the days I'm not working and deduct them from my yearly salary, so my paychecks will be less each month. I'm also getting disability. It doesn't pay your entire salary but it helps. I would talk to your HR person again and be sure they have looked into everything for you to take a leave. It's their job! Good luck.

I get 6 weeks unpaid and I've been saving since we found out I was pregnant. We figure I will miss about 2 paychecks and luckily my husband is using vacation time so we're just saving back every little bit to make up for what I won't be making in that time. It hasn't been easy but it's a necessity. We've cut out all fast food and eating out and stopped spending on any kind of non necessities.

I'm planning to take the rest of the year off, even though my time is unpaid. I can come back sooner I'd I need, just need to give them a months noticd. I'm hoping we can manage for 4 months because I really want that bonding time with my daughter before returning to work.

I'm not sure where u live but I live in mn and there's market research companies around that pay for studies. Usually like an hr or two and pays well. Typically they offer a diaper study and so I've done one where I got free diapers and got paid to do it. If they offer anything like that around you, you could do a few now or a few later for extra cash. My leave at work is unpaid so I'm only taking 6 weeks and just saving as much as I can until then.. Easier said then done of course when there's things to buy for new baby!! With my first, I took 8 weeks and didn't save anything extra and it really was okay. A little tight but it goes by pretty fast. It will all work out!!!
