Natural labor?

Question

Anyone planning on going naturally? Fears ? And if anyone is a second or third or fourth time mom, and has given birth naturally, how hard was it to refuse the pain medication? And did the doctors respect your wishes? I also am wondering how painful it is, and how much either childbirth classes, aromatherapy, music, doulas (or husbands), hypnoburthing, Lamaze, Bradley method worked for you? And if it made any difference ?

I'm a fourth time mom and my second was born completely natural- my biggest piece of advice is this- when you are having a contraction deep focused breathing is the best pain management. Long breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth and just focus on only that for the short amount of time. No panting, no whining, no screaming, the moment you let yourself lose control the pain worsens. I know it doesn't sound like much but it is immensely helpful if you don't want any drugs and the deep breathing is good for baby too!

This is my first. Planning on natural; don't really want to do it that way but I feel as though it is the healthiest option for me and my daughter.

Due July 3rd and planning on going natural using hypnobabies techniques and focused breathing. I also have a doula and a very supportive partner. I plan to labor at home as long as possible to avoid giving in to any kind of interventions or pain meds.

I went naturally with my first two and plan to again with this baby. Walking really helps, squatting, and those birthing balls. I would say to have a very strong support team with you, because sometimes the nurses will ask to "make sure" you don't want drugs, but I had a feeling they wanted to speed things up. But this was in 2007 & '10, so I'm sure it's different now. An easy way to avoid the temptation of drugs, stay home until your water breaks (IF it breaks) or you really know baby is coming. If you're too far into labor, they're not likely to give drugs anymore. It'll feel like you're never gonna make it, but don't think that way! You can and you will, that baby will be in your arms and it's faster than you think :)

In doing it naturally  2 medicated before. I an nervous but it's a water birth. My body was meant to do this. I am strong. I am Mother Nature.... These are the things I tell myself to get through the fear. Good luck.

I'm planning to go natural. I have absolutely no reason to believe anybody, doctor included, would not respect my wishes. I've actually never talked to an OB who didn't think a women should try to go naturally if she wanted to. That being said, I fully trust my doctor to make the most appropriate recommendations regarding the safe progression of my labor.
