Does birth control really work ?

Does birth control really work ? What are the side effects and etc...... My BF doesn't want to use a condom & tells me to get on the birth control, I want to knw he side effects & does it stop me from ever being pregnant or what ?

I was on the pill for 4 years. It made my period like clockwork and it only lasted 3 days. Side effects were less pms symptoms and I didn't gain weight. I never got pregnant or used condoms.

Go to the Planned Parenthood website. They have lots of great info on contraceptives. I have tried almost everything, and never been pregnant. My favorite was the once-a-week patch. I currently have the five year IUD Mirena. I've had it for three years and am thinking of trying the Nuvaring.

I wasn't good about remembering to take the pills especially not at the same time every day which is very important. I used Nuvaring (it's a small rubbery ring that you insert into your vagina once a month and take out to have your period or you can leave it in and skip it) for three years and loved it. Didn't have any side effects and my husband never felt it during negotiations sex or anything and it never came out during sex. It was much easier to remember once a month and my doctor would always give me a bunch of free samples of them when I went in.

I was on birth control pills for 6 years and I never got pregnant. It works. I had 0 side effects, except my period went from 5 days to 3 days which was awesome and less cramping. Go to your doctor and talk to them. They can go trough all the forms of birth control with you and the pros and cons. Then pick which one is best for you. Good luck

I got pregnant on microgestin, which is the pill form.

I used ortho tricyclen pill for ten years, took it religiously every day same time (set a phone alarm) and never got pregnant while on it. Stopped the pill, five months later, my husband and I got pregnant with our son, who is almost 2 now. :-)
