Baby weight?

How much did ur babies weigh at 31 weeks? I just went to dr and he said she's big at 4.5 pounds already is that bad or overweight?

My daughter measured big. They "weigh" the baby based on length of femur bone and size of head. They predicted her to weigh 8#4oz. She weighed 6#11oz. Her legs were and are very long and her head was overly big (had to be tested for swelling, water on the brain, etc). (All checked out well). So that's why she seemed big. I needed preemie clothes, lol.

Nobody knows what your baby weighs in utero. Measurements are an estimate, fundal height does not determine weight but basically compares size to what is considered average. My first baby measured big but I had tons of extra fluid. It's reassuring to hear that you are measuring well, but you don't know what your baby weighs until he or she is born.

Can I ask how you all are having your baby weighed? Are you getting sonograms done? I haven't had one since 20 weeks and my doc said I won't have any more so long as everything goes okay.

I haven't had an ultrasound since 20 wks. But, my OB says baby is measuring right on schedule based off the tape measure.

At 28 weeks my baby was 2lb 10 oz. going tomorrow for our 32 week scan.

Same. Dr said no big deal & that it doesn't mean anything at this point. LO may have just hit a growth spurt early and won't even necessarily stay ahead of weight bc fetus grow at different rates at this point in pregnancy. Said the only time it would be a concern is if the measurements they take to estimate weight (head, leg, etc) are pretty far off from each other in terms of expected size (so, mine measured 2 weeks ahead for everything but if it was on target for one but 2 weeks ahead for another it could be a concern) - that sort of size difference could indicate gestational diabetes. Otherwise, no concern & it's meaningless

At almost 31 weeks my boy was guesstimated to be 2lbs 9oz. We have another ultrasound scheduled for the 8th of July, we will be 34 weeks.
