Is masturbation a sin?

From a spiritual stand point do think think masturbation is a sin and how do you over come the temptation?

Nope. Consensual Intimacy of any kind is healing. Masturbation is actually good for you. It relieves stress, helps you feel better about yourself, and allows you to know your likes and dislikes so that when you find a sexual partner, you know what you want :)

No. But then I don't belive in a deity. However if I did it would be one childish enough to concern themselves with masterbation

It's not a sin. 
It more about having self control I believe.  Pop open your bible.  Check out Genesis 38:9-10.
