Why can't you sleep on your back ?!
I've been sleeping on mine. I didn't know that we shouldn't. I'm 36 weeks on Monday.

I keep waking up on my back too.I just take more antacid, go to the loo for the 100th time, locate my belly wedge pillow on the floor in the dark and try to go back to sleep on my side lol

It can cut off blood circulation to your legs. And it can make the air flow to baby less, or something. I'm surprised it's comfortable for you to sleep on your back still. I'm 34 weeks and haven't been able to for a few months cuz it hurts so bad lol

Thanks for the information! That might be why I have been having very bad cramps in my legs at night. But yes it's very comfortable to sleep on my back.  I'm going to try my best not to do it anymore!!

I didn't know either but I woke up one night and felt as though I couldn't catch my breath! Apparently it is not recommended to sleep on your back after 20 weeks because the uterus puts so much pressure on the main vein that provides oxygen to baby..... I sleep with an incline now because on my side sucks due to carpal tunnel

It's because the weight of the baby will press against a major vein that pumps blood back into your heart. Not the baby's. This doesn't harm the baby at all. I will wake up in the middle of the night on my back. My doc says to have a pillow wedged on one side so I won't lay on my back for too long without realizing it. You will be on a slight tilt.

I'm surprised you can comfortably sleep on your back. If I accidentally roll onto my back my husband wakes me up because I start breathing funny or I wake myself up unable to breathe.

That is controversial now. There are those that say if it's comfortable you can but then there are others that say it's not safe.

My dr said you can as long as your using pillows. You can not lay flat on your back without pillows or something else to lift your head.  My dr said which ever way you can get comfy and sleep it's fine just be sure you have pillows to support you.

I've always heard that it can cut off your circulation. I can't sleep on my back anyways so it wasn't a big issue for me.

With me.. (Not saying everyone and there babies) my back is more comfortable but everytime I sleep on my back he turns sideways. I'm going on 35 weeks so that is a problem. If I sleep on my sides he will stay head down. Luckily when he turns side ways he typically flips down by the end of each day.
