My little sister thinks being gay is "disgusting."
My sister (half sister) came to stay with me for a week (they live 5 hours away). My mom remarried when I was 9, they had her when I was 12, 22 now, which makes her 10 years old. My step dad is against same-sex marriage. My mother supports it highly. Her best friend Kevin was gay; he passed away last year. They were friends for 20 years.
We went to dinner with my best friend and celebrated the Supreme Court legalizing same-sex marriage! I told my little sister that today (yesterday) was a special day for many people in love. A man and another man in love can get married, and same goes for two women in love.
"That's disgusting, marriage is only for man and woman," she said. This made my heart sink. I don't want her to be so negative about it. Her dad believes it should be for man and woman, only. Of course she's going to listen to him.
People have opinions but he tells her being gay is "disgusting," that's terrible. I don't want her thinking that but she doesn't live near me and it's hard to have a huge influence on her if I'm not around her much. She's 10 and hopefully she will not think being gay is "disgusting" forever.
