Worried that baby's cry won't wake me up?

Is anyone else a bit worried that when their baby is born that they won't wake up to them crying? I've been so nervous lately about the thought of being a new mother! I can be a heavy sleeper sometimes and I'm afraid I won't wake up when the baby cries for something.

Don't worry, mama! Once the baby is born, his or her breathing will wake you. Even when they startle, you'll wake. I've always called it my mama spidey-sense. Even from across the house and doors closed, I can hear my girls cough. DH always wondered how I knew....it's just a mama thing!

Trust me, it will! The funny thing is, I woke up in a panic sitting straight up from falling asleep to the TV and waking to a newborn crying on a TV show. My daughter was 5 at that time! Lol, it's an instinct we get and really never lose

As a FTM with my soon to be 2 week old baby boy you can go from being a hard sleeper to the lightest sleeper from the minute he's born. I wake up to every little noise that sounds like him, even when he's not in the room (we are still in the hospital for his jaundice) when I used to be unwakeable.

I hadn't even thought of that possibility. I'm a FTM too and I've been concerned about my ability to care for a newborn. But my SO has a child from a previous relationship, and I'm counting on his knowledge to help me out.

I'm pregnant with my first baby but my SO has a little boy from a previous relationship. Living with a 2 year old has made me a light sleeper. We have the monitor on in our bedroom and he's all the time and if I'm sleeping and I don't hear he's breathing I wake up. I didn't realize I did this my SO told me I do this. I'm more worried he won't hear the baby if I'm not there because he is such a heavy sleeper. Trying to wake him up for work in the morning is a nightmare. I think it's just something you teach yourself to do consciously or not.

You are perfectly perfect in fearing about this! My first pregnancy I remember crying about it cause I was a deep sleeper and worried so much but.... Then my son came and it was so amazing how different you become all for the good I remember when he would move or just exhale louder than normal my eyes would perk wide open he is five now and I still wake up to him just moving in his bed! Your gonna be great!!!!!☺️

Im terrified of this too. My baby will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and there are times shes spitting up and choking while she was in a dead sleep and im so terrified I wont hear her and shell choke to death. I usually hear her cry no worries.... i agree your mommy senses kick in totally. But when shes choking shes not really making noises .... ugh the life of a mom. Its exhausting.
