Co-sleeping

Nicole
Somehow we got in the habit of co-sleeping.. Which I don't mind but I'd rather him be sleeping in his crib. Whenever we lay him down (awake or asleep) in his crib he will scream and cry. He is 15 months. Any advice??

Break the habit NOW! He should be sleeping on his own. He's old enough to soothe himself to sleep and cry it out. Obviously if he's safe in his crib and he's been fed and changed, he just needs time to figure out that you're not going to "rescue" him from his own bed. Stay strong and be consistent!

My son slept with me until he turned 2 and he just started sleeping in his own bed no problem.  They DO grow out of it!  But if you want them in their own bed sooner do it in steps.  Maybe slowly change his bedtime routine and start reading and quiet time next to the crib and you will most likely have to let them cry it out.  But what I did was put my son in his toddler bed and sat at the foot of the bed and held his hand.  Next night I did not hold his hand, he cried for about 20 minutes and went to sleep.  My son is very clingy so it was a slow process but we didn't want it to be difficult on our son since we will be having a baby soon too.
