Does your SO do this?

Question

My SO and I have a 1 1/2 year old boy. Whenever I'm off work or home, I have my son... Which is normal. But, whenever my husband is home alone with my son he ALWAYS goes to his mothers(my sons grandma) house with my son. He is rarely ever alone with him. He says it's cause he's bored and can't stand being home...but at his mothers, he never has to watch our son. He is off on his phone or the computer while grandma is playing with him. Is this normal for guys? Does your SO do things like this? It's driving me crazy cause 1. He never spends time alone with my son 2. I would just like to relax and sit back while someone else watched my kid(not really, but you get the point) UGHHH

Doesn't seem appropriate honestly. He's a grown up, he should make his own fun and raise his own kids

My husband was like that. He honestly had no idea what to do with our son haha. It was more of an issue of cluelessness rather than not wanting to be alone with him. He wouldn't take him anywhere but he didn't like being left alone with him for long. It wasn't till my son turned almost 3/4 that he started to do more with him. Once he was potty trained honestly I guess haha. And was able to do more physical things cuz his dad is a very physical person. He lies to take him to arcades and to special shows and we go to the PNE and on some day trips as a family which DH spends the time with DS now he's physically able to do more without having to be "babied" (if that makes sense)

I guess I'm lucky my SO takes care of my boys anytime I need a break.

My husband goes to his sisters when he has our daughter alone, he doesn't see his sister often so I have no problem with it.

Thankfully my fiancé isn't like that however I know guys who are. In my opinion they need to spend as much time as you with them or atleast as much as they can if they're working or what not.

Yup lol. But my husband also does it if it's just himself at home alone. And he still watched our son. All his brothers and sisters do it too, and there are 5 of them. My husband is the baby, there are 10 years between him and the next one up, and the other 5 were all born within 6 years. So my husband was babied big time. He's just seriously that much of a mama's boy. But I seriously love my mother in law, she's fantastic, so I don't really fuss about it much. My husband just cannot entertain himself while he's home.

A conversation involving your honest worries, concerns, and annoyances regarding this situation would be best to have with your SO. I wouldn't label it abnormal, but it does seem questioning. Try to understand from his perspective. His feelings AND your feelings are both valid.

My daughters dad was like that... but he'd drop her off and go out to drink, do drugs or cheat. Lol If I had this issue again it would be a deal breaker really. If I can handle our child alone, then please be a man and spend some one on one as well.

have you asked him why? he might feel incompetent or not confident looking after your child by himself. this would probably be embarrassing for him if it was the case. he's your man, give him a chance to explain and help him out!
