Using the pill for acne

I wanted to know whether you guys think it's fine to use the pill as medication for acne. I've had acne since I was 13 and I have tried other medication for it but nothing has worked as good as the pill, but is it a good idea to be on the pill just for my acne to clear up? I tried the pill for a while and my acne cleared up totally when I got off the pill it's come back, but I'm worried I'm messing with my body and providing drugs that won't be beneficial and will mess with my insides. I dont know, just curious so tell me what you guys think!
