Identical twin or yolk sac
I went in for a 7 week ultrasound (transvaginal) and immediately saw my baby on the screen. There was one gestational sac and I said out loud "oh thank goodness there's only one!" My PA immediately said "wait hold on I think I see something and she moved to wand and saw something the same size and similar shape to my baby. She immediately began checking for a second heartbeat and after a few mins then said, "um I think that's the yolk sac. See it has no heartbeat, there's only one." She didn't give me a pic so I have nothing to show and I didn't think to ask for one. Since the appointment I've looked up many sono images of yolk sacs and they are very circular white rings with a black inside. What we saw looked just like the baby who's heart was beating. So my question is, has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible to find two beating hearts in my next sono or should I believe the PA (physicians assistant) that it was a yolk sac despite it having looked exactly like the baby (same size same shape but no flicker). If it were twins they would be identical. Next sono is July 31. Morning sickness is out of control, I've lost weight but look 5 months already. Any ideas ladies? Any similar experiences? It's weird the PA would check a "yolk sac" in such detail for a heartbeat. Just looking for some insight before my next sono on the 31st.
