Contractions or just cramps?

Question

So I'm having pretty intense cramps but just in the vaginal area not the whole stomach...... Im 36 weeks.... Could these be the beginning of contractions or just baby and uterus growing?

I've heard contractions feel like bad period cramps ...but I wouldn't know! 38 weeks and waiting for something haha

I went into labor and delivery this past weekend with the same thing. I was having more sharper cramps when I was contracting but menstrual cramping. Dehydrated was causing mine so they gave me fluids and they stopped. He needs to bake for a few more weeks.
