What to look for in First Ultrasound

So tomorrow I should be 7 weeks pregnant and I have my first ultrasound. However...the doctor can't see me to discuss it for a month!!!

I am going to try and get the ultrasound tech to tell me as much as possible but idk how lucky I will be. Anybody have tips on what to look for in the ultrasound? I have conducted animal ultrasounds so I kind of know how to read them but my baby is still so small.

Also, has anyone else had just the ultrasound with the tech? Will she let me hear/see the heartbeat or give me pictures?

The ultrasound techs usually tell u a lot especially if u ask... Just try cause this early on u can't really tell too much if u have no idea what u are looking for

I believe at the first US they are just making sure there is in fact a fetus and checking out the heartbeat. The anatomy scan is where they look at the organs and development of everything, that is usually done around 20wks.

I had my first US at 6+3 and didn't see my doc for another couple weeks. (Even then, she didn't say much at all about the US.) The US tech pointed out baby (just looked like a little pea lol), pointed out baby's tiny beating heart and told us the heart rate, and pointed out the yolk sac. If there is something you want to know the tech hasn't pointed out, just ask :)

I had three ultrasounds with the tech. Depending on what they do or do not see will influence what they can say. We saw nothing at 5 weeks, saw baby , sac and heart beat at 6, and at 7 weeks she could not find the heart beat again so she then had to get the doctor so we could discuss my miscarriage.
