Ovaries: My left or your left?

Sorry if this is stupid:

I was at the (in)fertility doctor today (first appointment... Yay?) for an ultrasound of my lady bits. She was looking at my left ovary then right. I wondering when she said left.... Was it my left or hers?

Doctors refer to body parts from the patient's point of view, so that there's never any confusion.  "The left ovary" will always mean the patient's left ovary, not the one on the doctor's left.

Most likely your left ovary. She wouldn't refer to it as her left hand side ovary because most people if thy have surgery they refer to the patients left or right so they get the right body part hehe.

It means you're left ovary. Can you imagine the issues that could come up if they used their lefts and rights interchangeably with your left and rights? "Surgeon remove the right lung. What!!! No I meant my left not yours!!!!!!"

In the medical field, if a doctor refers to the left side, it'll always be your left side. 
I was a CNA and was in nursing school and they drilled that into our heads like crazy
