Hi, I'm trying to talk my mother into birth control because I have very irregular cycles, but when she wa discussing it before, it didn't help her a bit with her irregular period. Should I just go on and ask for it? And how should I ask? 
Also, what kind works the best ( in your opinion).

Just ask her (: tell her you want it for your periods and just in case you get sexually active :) and i liked the pill because it has the least side effects. Depo, implants, etc. seem to cause alot of problems.

Birth control can help with regulation as well as with cramping. The hormones in birth control effect every person differently, it may not have regulated her but may work well for you. I would try and speak with her again about why you'd like to do it, and at least try it for 6 months. If she will not allow it and you feel like it is something you need, find a place like planned parenthood and go get it for free. You do not need your mothers consent although it is very respectful to include her and ask her opinion. You could also go to the doctor alone if you needed to, just do not resort to unsafe methods and do not take birth control from friends. As I said each person is different and even though the patch may work for one person it may not be the best for you. They will most likely start you in ortho tri-cyclen lo first but if you have a hard time remembering pills ask about the Nuba ting. I do not recommend mirena or nexplanon as these can cause your period to go away completely or be even more irregular.
