What order do you believe in?

I always hear your spouse should come first but I do not believe this. I believe your children should always come first.

I can't think of any circumstances that you would need to put one in front of the other. In my family my spouse and I work together to make sure our kids and each other are happy....

God, husband, children. I am guilty of putting my child first. It's natural and what we do as Moms. But putting your husband before your children makes divorce less likely and makes it more likely that they will remain in a two parent home. Modeling a healthy relationship before your kids gives them a strong foundation for forming their own bonds throughout their lives. It gives them an example to live by. I want my child to see that mom and dad love and respect each other. Now, if DS cuts his hand or breaks a bone, of course that takes precedence over DH.

After God, I put my husband first because my children need a stable, loving environment, and putting my husband first helps with that, in my life. That doesn't mean I neglect my child even a little bit. It just means if my husband needs to talk to me, my child had to play independently. Or if my husband needs intimate time, the baby goes down early enough for that. We don't believe in centering our lives around our children, as our relationship was here first and is the foundation of our family. Out children can mold to our relationship rather than us molding to their whims.

If my marriage fails, it hurts my children. We both grew up in broken homes and without a positive male role model. It is of utmost importance to us to keep our marriage happy and healthy so that 1. We don't have to split our family up and 2. Our kids never have to feel the way we did or see the things we saw
