My birth story with Ezra
My birth story with Ezra..
On Wednesday July 8th I was tired and exhausted all day, and slept off and on until about 5:00pm. Got up and went the to grocery store for a few things, came home and cooked dinner, then Me, my husband, and our girls went for a walk. Started having mild contractions that seemed consistent so I called my sister and we started timing them. They were 2-4 minutes apart for an hour, then 8-10 when I started resting so We decided to stop timing them and I got ready for bed. I tossed and turned in bed all night until finally falling asleep around 4:30am. At about 5:00am I woke up feeling like someone was stabbing me in my stomach. Once I was finally able to roll out of bed I went to the bathroom and called my sister to tell her what was going on. Once that one finally went away I went and sat on my birthing ball and another one came 2 minutes later that hurt just as bad. I couldn't even talk through them. We timed them for maybe 10 minutes when I decided to tell her to call her babysitter. I called L&D to tell them we were coming, woke my husband and called our grandma to pick up the girls all while trying to get stuff together during the contractions 2-3 minutes apart. We finally arrived at the hospital around 6:20am and I got checked in and sent to a room asap. They checked me to see how far I was and I was already at 6cm and 75% effaced. My dr came in about 15 minutes later to break my water and I was at 7cm. I immediately wanted to move off of my back so i tried kneeling over the bed on the floor for awhile but my knees started to hurt so I kneeled over the back of the bed. I finally started getting a lot of pressure during each contraction so the nurse checked me and I was 9 1/2 cm. I rolled back over onto my back because I started to get tired and noticed myself trying to push during each contraction. The nurse paged the dr and started getting things set up for delivery. Once the dr came in I started pushing through each contraction with all I had in me. Didn't even seem like 30 minutes later my beautiful 8lb boy was in my arms at 8:53 am. When I was on my way to the hospital I kept saying "I can't do this..it hurts." With all of the support that I had between my Husband, sister(doula), best friend, and the awesome nurse I had I was able to stop thinking negative, and relax through the contractions and breathe which made them so much better. I'm so proud of the pitocin/epidural free labor and delivery that I had, that I "didn't think I could."
