Angel care monitor...safety...

I got the angel care baby monitor that has the pad that goes under the mattress to detect if baby doesn't move for a long while. I'm assuming it's just meant to be used under a crib mattress, but for the first few months, baby will be in a bassinet in my room. I put the pad in but the stick sticks out up along the side of the bassinet. I was wondering if it would be safer if I taped it down so baby wouldn't kick it out and get his foot wrapped in the wire.
