Pregnant and Airport Security?

So, my husband and I are TTC. Right now, my period is late (which it never has been) but no BFP yet. We're waiting to see. But, in the mean time, I've had to schedule a business trip for early next month. I'll be flying, which as we all know means airport security. I know pregnant women are told to avoid radiation and xrays unless absolutely medically necessary, but do the scanners a d xray machines used in airports pose the same or any risks? Is there anything I should be aware of or make the TSA agents aware with to protect myself and baby? Thanks!

Tsa still made me go through the scanners at 5 months pregnant and had signs everywhere saying the scanners were safe, my ob said they were safe as well, but  I still asked not to go through them but they wouldn't listen, I think it depends on what airport your at

Tell them you opt out. They don't need a reason. I never go through that thing.

Just tell them you might be pregnant and they won't make you go thru the body scanner

My ob told me not to go through no one knew I was pregnant when I travelled I told the TSA agent I was pregnant and my dr advised to not go through.  It was more of a precaution then anything they say it's not a real X-ray and won't harm you but my doctor said to err on the side of caution.  The agents were very nice and patted me down without question or issue.

I travel lots for work and had the same concern in my first trimester (in my third now). You can request a pat down at security, it takes a little bit of extra time, but you do not have to go through the scanners - at all. Once I reached my mid-second trimester I go through the regular scans like anyone else, since baby is further developed and I feel comfortable. My OB suggested this to me and I followed her advice.

I was noticeably pregnant and I still had to go through the scanner. It won't harm u or baby at all

Thanks ladies! I figured if it was uber unsafe, they'd have guidelines on place. Just wasn't sure how it usually goes. Its been a few years since I've flown and never while TTC.
