In your experience, who gives better care?

I have a female GP, a female midwife & a male OB. Gender doesn't bother me, I just want somebody who is competent that I'm comfortable with.

I also agree with midwives!  I have had a male OBGYN and I prefer the two midwives I have had since then.

I feel like female doctors ONLY because they can relate to what we really go through lol but that's just like a superstitious thing I have in my mind when I think about the two. But males are just as trained, and depending how long they been in the field, even more so, then women doctors. So it really doesn't matter. My first two children were delivered by males and I had seen males and females but I ended up sticking with the male in the end lol this pregnancy I've only seen one male and he was horrible so I might be delivering with a female but they are all doctors so either way you should be in good hands :)

I've got a female now, but originally had a male after years of female prior to pregnancy. It's mainly what you're COMFORTABLE with, because their education is the same. Also check rates of live births, and how many emergency sections occurred on their clock.

It should be available online. You can call the clinic/hospital and ask if they have information on their education and things online. I shop before picking now bc my male ob didn't know I had pcos and it landed me in the er. 😔 but that was three weeks before I got pregnant. So I immediately switched

First time mom and I started out by seeing a male OB. He has been my sister's doctor for both of her pregnancies and also has helped my mom with other female problems. Now that I am labeled as high risk I see two different male doctors and one female all from the same office. They are all amazing doctors and make sure I am getting the best care possible. I have to go every two weeks for appointments and sometimes there aren't any openings. What they end up doing is double booking to make sure I get in. I never feel rushed or talked down to by any of them. It's also amazing how much the communicate with each other about my case. Male or female doesn't matter, it depends on the way they treat you and your pregnancy.

I had a male doctor during my first pregnancy and was not happy with him. Not sure if it's bc he's a man or if it's just who he is but his bedside manner was terrible and I always felt talked down to. He only checked on me once after my c-section and was nowhere to be found when I was rehospitalized 3 weeks post partum  with an infection. He's since left the practice and I love my (female) doctor that I now see. I'm very confident that I'll be well looked after this time around :-)
