Taking antidepressants while pregnant?

Question

I have been on Prozac for several years and I went off it when we started TTC. My doctor said if I felt like I needed to go back on them during and/or after my pregnancy that it would be ok. I am incredibly hesitant to do so and I was wondering if anyone had any experience taking them while pregnant or breastfeeding?

I was on Zoloft for the duration of my first pregnancy. It's also one of the safest for breastfeeding. If you really need it, it's better to take it because the alternative (the depression, stress, anxiety)may be just as, or more dangerous to your little one if it's not controlled.

I was on 100mg of Zoloft before we were trying, went down to 75mg while we were trying, and as soon as I got my bfp I cut it down to 50mg which is a really low dose for my weight. I'm going to stay there until I see my obgyn at 8 weeks and get his input.

I was on prozac and my doctor switched my meds immediately. He changed mine to lexapro for the remainder of the pregnancy.

I'm on 10mg of Lexapro until my third trimester. My doctor didn't seem worried at all.

I was on Zoloft before TTC, I wanted to taper off and did, I began using  essential oils to help my anxiety and depression (lavender, citrus) and they have really helped me. I also feel you have to decide what is the best for you and your baby. I'm also a former therapist , and I would say you should evaluate your situation. In many cases it is more dangerous to stop your medication since symptoms could become worse during pregnancy and postpartum.

I take Prozac. I saw my doctor yesterday because I was worried about it affecting the baby, and she told me that the stress I would be under if my OCD was untreated would be worse for the baby than staying on the Prozac. So I'm still taking it.

I've been on prozac as well and just found out I was pregnant a few days ago.. i have the same question.

Yeah I would be better than not but I just can't find enough info to make me feel comfortable 😕

I was on Zoloft before the pregnancy and would probably be better still on something during the pregnancy. I'm not sure what I can take either. :/
