What do you recommend for bathing a new born, preferably something that transitions.

We registered for the blooming bath so we can just use the sink for now. Looks comfortable and easy!

Get the cheap $17 chair at target. It's so much easier to use to hold baby up during baths and a lot cheaper.  It was the 3rd one we tried and our favorite.

We just took an infant care class that said you don't need one. However, We purchased a collapsible one by Stokke since its big enough to grow with your child, yet folds down to slide behind a door or into any small  space really. Hope this helps.  www.amazon.com/gp/aw/cr/B004NRNSNC/ref=mw_dp_cr

I didn't trust them enough so I sat in the tub with a bit of water and DS sat on my lap with his head near my knees propped up and I bathed him that way. When I was done DH would come in and take him and wrap him in a towel while I got out dried off.

I bought the Aquascale 3-in-1. You can use this from birth to 2years. I don't plan on using it that long, but it seemed like a wonderful option compared to others I've seen.

I registered for a bath sponge. If I hate it, I won't regret it. I hated the tubs we had for my first child. A bucket-like one and a whirlpool bath one. They annoyed and took up too much space for us, plus they costed quite a bit. We found it more comfortable for everyone to just jump in the tub together.
