Are breathable mesh bumpers worth it?

Question

I was looking at breathable mesh crib bumpers so I don't have to worry about her fingers/arms/legs getting stuck & her not dying by suffocation... Do you think it's worth the money or should I just try something else?

I've used one for both my girls and it's great! Fold it over several times and hold it to your own face to test it--I thought it was MUCH safer than a traditional bumper and prevents arms, legs, binkies, etc from falling between the slots.

My philosophy has always been better to get an arm through the slats here and there versus worrying about suffocation. Crib bumpers are not ideal. Mesh or otherwise ;)

I didn't use any bumpers with my 2 boys (5 & 2yo now) and they were perfectly fine... My youngest got his arm caught in the slats 1 time, and it was because he was trying to teach the light switch when he was about 11 months... He wasn't hurt though, we just slid it right back out and moved his crib to the side wall... I won't be using bumpers mesh ir otherwise with this one either... Good Luck

My doctor/midwife/health visitor all advised against - the advice is no form of bumper at all as there is a risk of suffocation or strangulation.

Use the breathable mesh ones or nothing. We didn't use any kind of bumper and never had issues with arms or legs getting stuck
