Dictate? Not exactly. I have a very judgemental family. I had a baby at 20 and my mother suggested I give her up... even though I had been living on my own for 2 years. It seems like my family thinks I owe them everything, or that I needed to make other choices to appease them. I don't know when they will get the message; I do just fine my way.
