I just had an all natural birth last week. I gave birth to my baby boy at exactly 35 weeks. I didn't feel any pain until they broke my water. After breaking my water the contractions got to strong they were almost unbearable but I kept breathing thru them then out of no where I felt the urge to push and when I started pushing the pain I started to feel was the worse pain I've ever felt. It felt like the inside of my vagina was tearing. Once his head was out the pain subsided. It happened so quick. As much pain as I was in I'm very proud to have done it naturally.

I had one with my son four years ago. No pain mess or epidural. The pain was very very intense at the end, but that portion of the labor seemed to go by fairly quickly in retrospect. The rest of the labor was very manageable, painful, but manageable. I was in labor for a total of about 20 hours. The last part lasted about 3-4 hours, pushing for less than an hour. I believe that part of the reason why I feel like it went quickly, is due to the fact that I didn't have any narcotics or numbing taking place. I was fully aware of my body's natural urge to push, which I'm told with an epidural, it's very difficult to know when to push and the person doesn't really know if they are pushing or not, so it takes much longer for that reason.  After the delivery I never wanted to have another child, because of the pain, but here I am 9 months pregnant with my second! I have to say that I plan to do the same, no medication. I just truly feel that it has to be a much more meaningful experience to feel the labor and be completely present in the moment. It's hard to put into words, but I am praying that nothing comes up like a cesarean or being induced, to where I would need to be medicated. I feel very strongly about a natural birth from my experience and for many other reasons. :) hope that helped...

I had an epidural with both of my boys and glad i did. I also still felt plenty of the "urge to push" when the time came. The epidural helped, but labor was still no cake walk. If you want to try and go pain med free, go for it. However, dont beat yourself up if the pain gets intolerable and you ask for one. Everyone's threshold for pain is different.

Mine were all unmedicated and totally natural in my opinion.  I have had my water broken for 2 of them because I was over 5cm and not in labor and didnt want to go into labor 40 minutes from home.  I also have had Pitocin because my water broke naturally at home and labor didn't start.  I am currently expecting number 8.  I was always very lucky.  Mine were all quick, 5 and a half hours or less.  Never any complications.   I have a very supportive husband who was really with me throughout each labor and delivery.  I walked as much as I could during labor and did my best to let each contraction just happen without fighting it.  You just have to do everything you can to ride each one out and stay calm.  Does it hurt?  Yes!  I always felt great right after each of them.  I don't know that I always planned on going natural...but they were all quick and once I was in labor...I never even thought to ask for anything.  All of a sudden it was time to push and I just followed what my body was telling me!  Everyone was truly spectacular!
