Home phone

Does anyone use just a home phone & a computer anymore? With maybe a prepaid emergency phone for when they're out. Would it be absolutely nuts of me to do that? I'm a stay at home mom & im not really out just by myself or even just me & the kids aside from my daughter will be starting kindergarten next month & I'll be driving her but her school is literally less than a 5 min drive.
