I have a question about my 1st sonogram

I'm excited, I'm 8 weeks today yay and I get my 1st sono and hear the baby's heartbeat today but on the paper I was given with the appointment had instructions to drink 5-8oz. cups of water a half hour before the procedure, did any of u have to drink this much water a half hour before your first sonogram?
