Older sibling presents?

Question

Does anybody have any ideas on what I can get my daughter for her little brother's birth? People are starting to ask me what I am doing for her and with everything going on, I didn't even think of it! I got her a "big sister shirt" and thought I would let her pick out a teddy bear for her brother. Also was thinking of just spending an afternoon with her, taking her to toys r us after he is born to spend some one on one time. If anybody has any ideas, please share :) she will be 5 in October!

I always get my kids a gift from the baby. Something specific for each one so they think the baby really knows them :)

I just started thinking on this one, too. So far I've got a big and little brother shirt. And I plan on getting them a small gift to give to each other. The one-on-one time postpartum will be tricky with us learning the work of 2 kiddos, but I'm pretty sure that is going to be way more important than any gifts I decide on 😉

We got him a big brother shirt and he's been included on all the big decisions, such as the name and what color to paint the nursery. He's just excited and has been a big help in picking out all her clothes and blankets.

i'm going to make a 'big sister kit' mainly with things that we already own. its gonna have the books 'mama midwife' and 'hello baby', cake mix to make a birth day cake for the baby, a onesie with fabric markers to decorate for the baby, snacks & juices and her charged ipad & headphones, probably some new crayons and a coloring book. i'm having a home birth so we will give her this basket once i'm in labor! she will be 3 in november

My 4 & 6 year old girls love playing with their Bitty Baby & American Girl doll, so I'm going to get them each a new outfit for their doll from their baby brother.

I like your idea of one on one time taking her to toys r us to pick out a new toy. My mom used to do this with me once a year at income tax time and it was something I always looked forward to, like a tradition and its still one of my fondest memories. I was an only child so it was just something she did with me once a year when she had the money but it made a huge impact. After the baby is born she will definetly relish the time with you and getting all your attention and of course the toy just makes it a little more exciting for her.
