Got milk?

Question

Baby girl is still loosing weight :( dr wants me to supplement at 8 days old but I told her no. I'm very sure she's getting plenty of milk! Plus she has good poop and pee diapers! We go in to have her weighed again on Tuesday! Fingers crossed!

My little guy lost weight and I had to supplement. I was heartbroken. He wasn't having wet diapers so I knew something was wrong. Good luck!

Have you talked to a lactation consultant? Maybe you could supplement with your own breast milk? I had to do that when my baby wasn't eating well around 4 days. Basically I would let her drink as much as she wanted first and then pump what was left and offer it to her in 1-ounce servings - enough to supplement, but not enough to get her full on the bottle alone. I only had to do it for like 2 days until my milk supply had increased. It worked really well to get us over the hump and now I breastfeed exclusively again. I used special nipples for breastfed babies btw to avoid nipple confusion. Baby never liked the bottle as much as the breast, so we had no problems getting rid of the bottle again. Just a thought.

Mine was like that too- I supplemented with very little 2-4 oz in a day sometimes none she got strong really fast and became a more efficient eater and I only had to do not for five days, in that week she gained an ounce a day and now I have more milk and I don't have to supplement either.
