Thoughts about cloth diapers?

I have never thought about using cloths diapers with my other children before but some people say it's better..not only for the environment but cost wise too.
Any thoughts of using cloth diapers? how practical are they in everyday life?  how many do I start off with? what brands are better? and how messy are the clean ups?

I love cloth diapers, I have cloth diapered 4 kids, soon to be 5! There are sooo many different options out there, check out fluff love university .com( no spaces ) they have great I for for all stages of cloth diapering. There is also a cloth diaper group on here, is under the general category pretty far down but it's there!!

I haven't had my baby yet but I'm using cloth diapers. I love the idea that I have all the diapers I need before he gets here. I will be using disposable liners for trips and a sprayer at home to make clean up easier.

I use them due to cost effectiveness, and they retain less chemicals so my child is exposed to less.

The environmental aspects are just a a bonus.

I find them to be practical. I utilize a wet bag when we are on the go and normally I only change inserts as needed and reuse covers until they get poopy.

I use prefold, which are tri decided flats of cloth that fold and have a thicker middle for extra asorbtion. And diaper covers with different styles and colors.

I only purchased two sizes of prefolds and covers and I use the brand osocosy prefolds and thristies covers.

Everybody finds a different system that works for them and the all in ones are super easy, they are literally reusable diapers...but they are expensive at about 30$a piece
