Pay-it-forward Chains

M🌸
Sometimes I think I might be the only one who finds pay-it-forward chains at places like Starbucks pointless. I feel like so many people miss the point. It seems it would be more effective to accept the kindness of a free drink and pay it forward to someone who could actually use it in a different way. For example, giving that $5 to the next homeless person you cross paths with or using it as a reminder to be courteous tipping your waitress. I don't know. Besides feeling like you did a good deed, pay-it-forward chains where no one really benefits seem more self serving than anything. I prefer to truly pay it forward in a more useful way. How do you feel about them? In what ways do you like to pay it forward?
