Am I taking a risk?

Question

I'm 35+3 and just got back from a family holiday. We loved it so much we want to go again on the 10th of August! I will be 37+3 at that point. It's a 3/4 hour drive on a good run to where we're going. Do you ladies think I'm taking a risk going away so close to my due date? It's not an active getaway, it's quite chilled and spend most the time on the beach, I Need some other opinions.

I say go for it! My hospital is a 45 minute drive just from my house.

OP Update: seen the midwife today, she is more than happy for me to go away for a few days, especially since I've already organised a planned route to nearest maternity ward. She said a 4 hour drive home isn't that far if I really want to give birth in my chosen hospital (don't think she realises what the roads are like to and from where we're going! Lol). It's all booked anyway, and it's my big boys 8th birthday while we're away he's going to be super excited when he finds out! Thank you for all your opinions ladies, much appreciated xx

At 34 weeks I took a family trip to Florida it was a 18 hour drive and came back at 36 weeks. Everything was fine. I just made sure we stopped every 2 hours to stretch. And I had a check up with my ob the day before I left.

I would talk to your ob. I work at a camp and had to be away from home and my fiance for 5 days straight so I just had my ob check me out and give me the clear to go.

I drive 45 minutes to work every day and it's usually even longer going home!

I took a trip six hours away at 37+5 weeks! I saw the dr a few days before and just asked her to check my cervix for dilation and since I wasn't dilated at all, I decided it would be fine. If you're not feeling up to it I'm sure your body will let you know and you can make the choice on your own.

With my first my OB, she couldn't safely advise me to travel over 2 hours after like 28 weeks! And this time my midwife felt the same. If you do go (cause they can't make you stay lol) let them know and they can print off all your medical records to take with you. You just never know what can happen during the drive there and back....

I personally wouldn't do it but I typically play the "safe" route.  I would talk to your dr or mid wife.

I have a wedding like 9 days before my due date that is over an hour away and doc said I could probably drive over 8 hours before having to go to hospital. So I think it's fine. However, everyone is different. As your doc!
