Help! Hormone driven knots in your neck

Okay so two weeks ago I woke up to what felt like a horrible crick in my neck and after a week of sharp shooting pain in my shoulder and neck and not being able to lift with that side or turn my head went to a chiropractor (which had to pay out of pocket) well after once a day all week visit he fixed my hip and shoulder but neck kept coming back every day. So he said that might be because of hormones! Two days ago I was in tears all morning it was so bad but the next day hardly there and didn't do anything different. Can hormones cause this and is there anything to do, I can't afford to keep paying a chiropractor.
