To you, what does the Confederate Flag stands for?

Just doing a poll to see what you guys think about the Confederate Flag and what it means to you.

William T Thompson, the man who designed the confederate flag (the stainless banner version) as we known it today, wrote this about the purpose of flag he created.

"As a people we are fighting to maintain the Heaven-ordained supremacy of the white man over the inferior or colored race; a white flag would thus be emblematical of our cause."

Yeah, it may be history but how is that not the epitome of racism? Supporting the confederate flag supports a legacy of bigotry, prejudice, racism, violence, and intolerance. #letitgo

But that flag really doesn't stand for slavery. It whats been put into people heads, I've done the research and only 3% of the South was fighting for slavery when the other 97% was fighting over Lincoln trying to tax the South for their land and money. I don't mean to sound mad or anything. I'm just telling the real truth behind the flag, nothing more.

It is history. However the history of slavery and anti America. I think the flag should be in a museum. It's a part of the USAs history. And should be in a museum.

It's southern pride and heritage. Had to do only with the southern states during the Civil War. Nothing at all to do with slavery.

I think the problem is that people took that flag and adopted to stand for hate. I understand that it was not made for hate but if that's what people have been using it for them how can you see it an other way? The sign that the nasiz use wasn't always for hate but they took it and made it knowed for hate just like that flag. So to me it stands for hate because that's the way it's being used even though that was not the purpose of the flag. But if you think about it history can't tell us to much on if it is or isn't because we learn what they want us to learn. You have to do a lot of digging to find the real truth in the history.

It's a flag that represented a group of people that no longer exist, for a war that has been over for over a century, and a matter that has long sense been resolved.
If people want to fly it, whatever.

1st off let me say that I'm so tired of hearing about this flag. Personally idc what they do with it, I'm perfectly fine with having it in a museum BUT that's where it should stop. People should still be able to have it on their personal property without being threatened or harassed over it. There are actually people being shot at for having it on their vehicles!! As for what it stands for, I believe it stands for different things for different people. For most it's just a southern symbol, for some it represents heritage and the south fighting back against the government, at the same time there's no doubt that some people fly it because they're racist (although it's my belief that it was never intended to be viewed that way). Regardless there are people that view it that way and there are people who are offended by it and I understand that. It's down now though so I think people on both sides need to let it go and focus on moving forward. It's done and over with. We have much bigger things to worry about now.
