I just read a news article about that. That dispatcher should of kept his cool. As someone who works with the public, I know people can drive you nuts sometimes, but when there is an emergency and you are an emergency responder you have to keep your cool and be the voice of reason. I don't think that it would of changed the outcome for that poor young man, but I do feel that the dispatcher could of been more professional.

This really depresses me. Actions have consequences, and in this particular case, it was someone's life. It's just disappointing to know that a 911 dispatcher would hang up with full knowledge that a teen was bleeding to death from a GSW (gun shot wound). I personally think that The dispatcher should be fired for his rude behavior and incompetent judgement. It makes me both sad and angry to hear about this happening to someone. We call 911 for help during an emergency and someone tells us to deal with it ourselves and hangs up. In my opinion I think of it almost like a crime, because this is such a serious matter that forces you to stop and question our society's expectations of a top notch emergency system.

What the f*ck!!!! Not only should he be fired but he should be in jail for be neglectful and letting someone die!  Unbelievable! As someone whose going to be working in Emergency Services this saddens me

If you are standing behind the counter of McDonald's and a customer starts cursing, I would not blame you one bit for walking away.

If you are charged with saving people's lives and you walk away because someone curses, you need to be fired. And then you need to face criminal charges of some sort.

These break my heart. Dispatching is hard as hell but you have to try. I felt terrible when people died and I did all I could. Sometimes you need to be ... abrupt... like getting the caller focused but you have to have a certain tone to keep them on track. Being nasty gets nasty back. They aren't cussing AT you. They are having the worst moment of their lives.
