Tongue and lip ties???

Question

Does this only effect breastfeeding or does it effect bottle feeding also?

My son was born with a tongue tie. He was born at 6 & 1/2 pounds but after only 2 days was down to 5lb 10oz. I was trying to breastfeed and as far as I knew it was going well. It took 3 days before the lactation consultant discovered the tongue tie. I desperately wanted to breastfeed but after a week of supplementing formula and still his weight dropped we were forced to switch to formula. I urged to have it fixed when he was a baby but my insurance said since he was now feeing it wouldn't be necessary. My son is now almost 8 and still struggles with speech but has made enormous progress. If this baby is also born with a tongue tie I want it clipped ASAP so she doesn't have to go through what he went through.
