Trouble with switching meds?
I have been taking Paxil since I was 12 (17 years) for pretty significant anxiety issues, I know that Paxil is not safe to take during pregnancy and have an appointment scheduled for this afternoon to begin the switch to Zoloft as my doctor recommended bc I am now ttc. Here's the thing, about 18 months ago I tried switching to Lexapro (just bc my doctor felt it was better than Paxil) and began having horrible panic attacks (previously a non issue). My doctor never warned me that when beginning a new ANTI anxiety medication that it can, in fact, increase your likelihood of panic attacks, needless to say I was in such a bad state that I just wanted to feel normal again and returned to the Paxil as I was not yet ttc. All this to say I am VERY nervous about this transition and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? I should also add that I have found a new doctor who seems MUCH MORE knowledgable about anti-anxiety meds than the previous one who seemed genuinely flummoxed as to why I was suddenly having panic attacks (my mom did some research and is the one who figured out it was the change in meds, I just thought I was going crazy). So anyone else? What can I expect? Will I feel "normal" again?
