I have the mirena iud.  I love it! Yes it has made my hair a little thinner (which is  a good thing my hair was so heavy I started having neck problems). I was on the pills for a couple years and I turned into Godzilla super scary mood swings and angry all the time. Then I was on the Nuvaring which slipped out a lot. I was constantly worrying about if it's in or not. Then I tried  mirena,  it was painful for the first week until my body got used to it and I did bleed for a week as well, my uterus lining was thinning out. Buy it's amazing! I lost the 6 lbs I put on from years of pills and it wasn't as hard as it had been before. No bloating, not as much cramps,  only spotting for my periods when it used to be like Niagara falls. Definitely recommend!!

After pills and IUD and issues with both, and can't have hormonal BC because if health issues, I am trying my best to understand my body and it's own fertility and learn that way.

IUD! I have skyla and have for about 9 days. It's such a great device if your anatomy can handle it. I heard horror stories about the monofilament threads poking the penis but my strings are already soft to the touch. It was absolutely excruciating since I've never had kids and my cervix is 25mm... I had my first endorphin rush from pain and took one hard pain pill. I spotted for 2 days and felt all crampy, but it was SO worth it. There are studies on women who receive semen vaginally being happier, and honestly I can vouch for it being true. It has made my life less stressfull, no joke. It obviously has a few design flaws, but I'd rather have synthetic progestin locally in the uterus than a pill going through my digestive system causing problems. My mother got the mirena exactly a month before I got skyla and she has been bleeding ever since, but her natural progesterone concentration was so low, her lining became too thickened and her periods were even worse. No problems for either of us. A little pain is better than a little pain in the a$$ walking around IMHO.
