Ovulation strip to test for pregnancy??

I've heard and read that an ovulation test can be used to test for pregnancy but it's not the best choice. Is this true? I ovulated about a week ago and I've been having pregnancy symptoms I got one faint positive pregnancy test but it's too early for sure to test. So for fun I did ovulation tests both came out super faint! Is it possible they picked up HCG??
