Baby Reese

Al
I went in on Friday at 4:00 to have my membranes stripped to "help start labor" and was told to go walk around and go to the hospital in a few hours if I started having contractions. Less than two hours later I was admitted and dilated to a 5. My doctor had another delivery so I opted to wait to have him break my water until he came to the hospital for that. He broke my water at 11:30 and I was dilated to a 6. That was when things got bad. The contractions got unbearable and one right after another and the urge to push started within 20 minutes. The nurse checked me because she didn't think I should be feeling like that yet and I was suddenly dilated to a 9. The doctor came in and we got started on trying to get this baby out. Pretty quickly my oxygen levels and blood pressure started dropping and baby boy's heartbeat dropped to 65. He was almost an emergency C-section, but we got him out. I have awful tearing. The nurse actually said that it is one of the worst she's ever seen. My doctor told me that if I ever want to have more kids they'll have to be scheduled C-sections. Thankfully this is my last anyway because that was the worst pain I have ever been in. I'm on bed rest for the next 3 weeks so everything can get healed up. But at 12:42 am on August 8th this handsome baby boy entered the world. His name is Reese Oliver and he weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces. Exactly a pound bigger than the doctor expected. He was 20.5 inches long.
