How to time contractions?

Question

Feel kinda silly asking but when you time your contractions do you time them by the start of each new one or by the end of each one? I have baby center app and the way they count it is time in between each end and start of a new one, if that makes sense. Ex. If I had one that lasted 5:04-5:05 and the next one 5:10-5:11 it means they are 5 or 6 mins apart? Clearly I'm over thinking this....pregnancy brain smh

I was told the time is from the start of one to the start of the next one.

its the time between each, and each is supposed to last 30-60 seconds. like the way my doctor said it sounded like from end of one to start of next.

Thanks:) that what I thought but that baby center app totally thru me off because it gives you average contraction length and average time between each contraction

That's what I would assume too? Second time mom here but never had to time them with the first.
