Too young for mammogram?

Just randomly found a lump that I'm pretty sure was never there. I'm 23 so I didn't know if I should get a mammogram and if my insurance would pay since I'm so young?

Go get it checked by your gp or gyn dr. It may just be a cyst or something non sinister. They'll recommend if you need to have a mammogram or not. All the best x

Same thing happened to me a few months ago, I was 24 at the time they found the lump in my breast. They ended up doing a mammogram and sonogram....it ended up just being that I have fibroscistic breast! My insurance covered some of it but I'm still paying a bill I recieved for it. Honestly I would go and get it checked out, it may suck to have to pay the money but it will put your mind at ease knowing what's going on. Best of luck to you!!

You are too young for a routine screening mammo but a lump makes it diagnostic which should be covered by insurance, depending on your plan. I've never seen an insurance that doesn't cover diagnostic mammograms and I've been working with medical insurance for 14 years! 💕

I had 2 lumps in my left breast when I was 19. They wouldn't do a mammogram because of my age . So they did ultrasound then removed the lumps so they wouldn't continue to be questionable. Once they removed them they biopsied them and they were just tissue. The procedure was a 1 day thing and easy.

They will do an ultrasound then decide from there to remove it to do more testing or leave it alone recently happened to me. I'm 23 years old too.

You could always call and ask if it's covered. Hope it's nothing serious! Either way I'd get it checked by someone. If not a mammogram go see your regular doctor and see what they can do. Better safe than sorry and if it does end up being something serious, the sooner the better!
