Humor me when I say it could be. They're are many headstrong ignorant teens who are completely numb to the dangers of the internet. Reflections of their often over trusting parents.

This video made me realize how being a parent, I now have the very important role of communicating to my daughter the importance of Internet/ stranger safety and hope that she respects and trusts me enough to listen to me. Granted she's only 2 months old but who knows what technology will be out there once she's older.  I just hope that can portray the message these parents are trying to get across to their daughters without having to scare the shit out of her.

I know lots of people are here saying they won't let their kids online. It's just not realistic in the world we live in or the world our children are going to live in. I think it's important to show kids videos like this, communicate the dangers and know who your kids are communicating with online. Have access to their social media accounts, track their friends. Build enough trust that you can go to a public place with them and meet someone online - If they are going to do it wouldn't you rather be around then to have them sneak around you. The Internet is here to stay, part of that means people will meet online. Teaching kids how to be safe on it is super important.

That video had me sobbing in my kitchen. Ladies, what are we going to do to protect our sons and daughters from themselves? I honestly wonder if I wouldn't have done the same thing as the young ladies in the video when I was their age. This video literally shook me to my core.

Children are not taught safety for the Internet or real life as well anymore in general. They don't understand that 15 yo may be 30 something and looking to abduct, abuse, or rape them or that whatever goes online stays online forever.

The have raised my kids with the knowledge that people on the internet can pretend to be anyone or anything. Unfortunately, in today's world, it's necessary to instill skepticism and suspicion in our kids so that they aren't gullible enough to fall victim to predators. 
I know I say this often, but I am SO thankful that I grew up before social media was a thing!

I do think it's pretty easy now a days. I almost got kidnapped as a child, I was kicking and screaming but no one did a thing. We were out in public. I think it was drawing a bit of attention though as he dropped me and I ran. A lot of people won't do much even if it's in broad daylight because they believe someone else will. My ex put me into a chokehold two years ago while everyone was leaving school and tons of people were around, I could very obviously not breathe and he was basically dragging me. I ended up passing out and came to a minute or two later on the ground and no one still had done anything.

Honestly the most my mom ever said to me was, "you know not to do that, right?" And I said yes because what else would I say. Except then, I was talking to college boys at the age of 14, drinking, smoking, and doing other reckless things because my parents didn't communicate to me how bad things could be. I wasn't mature enough to understand every little aspect of it, but I think I would have benefitted from something like this, and probably a parent that did try getting to know my "friends" and their parents. Everyone should know who their child is hanging out with, you should talk to their friends parents and get to know them too. It's so critical.

Yes, I feel older parents didn't have to grow up with as many dangers as kids now days do leading them to not teaching them as strictly about the dangers and how to protect themselves. Also you have to be a parent BUT you have to allow your kids to feel they can talk to you, when they feel safe to talk to you a parent is able to catch things before they go down and go wrong!
