Deciding to move out of state????

G
Me and my husband have been playing around with this idea for a little while. I was born in a different state, moved around a bunch as a child and teen and finally settled in one spot with my mom in high school. He was born and raised in NC but not the Raleigh area. We met in high school and moved to the Raleigh area after we were married and our son was about to start school. Now expecting baby # 2, we just bought a new house less than a year ago but we have property in another state. We are trying to weigh the pros and cons of selling our house, moving there and buying a cheaper house to put on owned property. Currently we live in the outskirts of Raleigh, a pretty big convenient area with okay schools, good job market with room to build a career. But our lifestyle doesn't match with were we are. His job pays well, but the cost of living and our debt doesn't match well. There's always stuff to do but we are homebodies. We're not very social, and there's not enough outdoor space for growing boys and family. The property we own has plenty of outdoor activities and yard to do things in. Like fishing on property, riding 4 wheelers and hunting, etc. The only things we can think of that would be a con would be snowed in winters and the lack of convenience to stores, restaurants, and the schools. I don't mind my kid(soon to be kids) being on a bus, but the roads there scare me and then with 3+ feet of snow on the ground and school wouldn't be cancelled, that thought makes me panic. Hubby could still find work, it would be a long commute though, and possibly times he's gone for a few days at a time. But pay would stretch further and our lifestyle would fit the area better. Or at least we think. So weighing the pros and cons. Has anyone else sold thier home, downsized their possessions, and moved to a new state to a completely different way of life?? How was it? Anything you regret or would do differently?
