Are you announcing your name choices before baby arrives?

Well we choose a name and once he was born I honestly looked at his face and couldn't picture calling him that, so we changed it in a split second. And now I look at him and I'm so happy I did.

After, currently we only had her middle name chosen. So many family members have given different opinions on the names we previously discussed so we decided to wait until she's born then announce the name we like that way it's our choice without any discretion.

I learned VERY fast with our second that we will no longer announce our children's name until birth. 
People can be so rude and judgmental that I'd like to decide with my husband what we want and love. Its hard enough selecting a life long, important  decision without all of the input the negativity and put downs.

We announced her first name before and her middle name after since her middle name we thought might've gotten shot down lol. Her name is Lydia Monroe :) we loved it and didn't want to hear crap from anyone! Lydia is a family name so we knew no one would have an issue with that one.

we announced baby 1's name at the gender reveal party so it would be more official. when ppl think you haven't really decided for sure, they give you their unwanted opinions...

We've told a number of people in the U.S. (where I'm from), but not any in the UK (where we live and my partner's home country). In the U.S. it's an uncommon name, but one without connotations, whereas here some might see it as rather old fashioned.

The thing we hadn't prepared for was people deciding to call her by her name before she was born. We decided not to (she tends to be Baby, Wiggely, or Trud/Trudlett), but my stepfather does and it drives us crazy!

With my 18 month old daughter, we announced her name as soon as we found out she was a girl. But this time, we're having another girl and we aren't telling anyone but close friends and family until she's born. (I've posted a few times on here but no one I know has this app so it doesn't matter).

With our first we announced the name with the gender.  This time around people already know our girl name since we didn't use it the first time but if it's a boy we will keep the name a secret.  We got tired of my mother in law telling us she didn't like the boy names we liked.  *hopefully* she won't share her opinion if she learns the name the first time she sees him.

We announced it only because I was getting annoyed with all the name suggestion/demands from my husbands family.
