What do you hope for? Natural Birth or Pain Killers?

I've heard some terrifying stories about epidural, but I'm really scared of a long and painful labour. What would you ladies say?

Natural is not nearly as bad as people think it is.

I gave birth to both my boys natural  but I was only in labor for 4 1/2 hours with both.  I suggest trying it and if you can't take it or are going to be in labor for a long time then I'd probably get the epidural.  People handle pain differently though so you may be able to handle it 😉
My pain level didn't get really bad until like 2 hours in so I only had 2 1/2 hours of hard labor

I'm going all natural and hiring a doula. She's trained in the hypnobirthing method and I'll probably take that class. She said a pain free completely natural birth is possible. She also uses essential oils during labor, massage and natural labor and birthing positions. Now to get this all through to my OBGYN whose practice is known for pushing all drugs and medical interventions. Wish docs were better trained in natural methods.

My plan is to attempt natural, I attempted natural with my second, a vbac, but got an epidural when I was 10 cm after 51 hours of labor. If I have a shorter labor, I think I'll be able to do it, if it's another 56 hour labor...then I don't know lol

I'm not getting an epidural. They can give you pain meds that help with the pain and that's what I'm doing.

I was induced with my daughter. And my son was natural. To be honest I refuse to have an epidural because just the thought of a needle in my spine scares the bajeezes out of me lol. I want an all natural birth again. It was the most rewarding experience I've ever done. And Daniel and I have such a strong bond now. I hope and pray that I have somewhat of the same experience with this baby =]

They had to give me picotin (sp?) to speed my labor because he wasn't coming out fast enough or correctly so I had an epidural. It only worked on  half of my body but when they sped up those contractions, I was grateful to be even half numb with that epidural!

Epidural s all the way.. I was in labor for 36 hours with my first and couldn't handle the pain after a long while, the epidural was amazing and you still feel the baby coming out of your vagina, do is not like I'm missing out on any kind of experience
