How long is too long to wait for a proposal?

We have known each other for five years, coming up on our second anniversary of being together. We live together and are 30 and 33.  Money isn't an issue. But so far no sign of him even considering marriage. I would also like to have kids. How long do I wait before I am just wasting my time.

This question always drives me crazy because there is no right or wrong timeline for this, it's all dependent on the individual couple and relationship.
You need to communicate about your plans for the future and have a general timeline that works for you set out. My husband and I were dating for almost 7 years before engagement and we were both comfortable with that because we had communicated pretty early on what our expectations were for this which kept us both feeling secure in the relationship.

Been with my man almost 5 years now. I would rather him be ready than pressure him and it not work out. Everyone is different just because your ready doesn't mean he is. Let him get there :)

I think it depends on why you want to get married. Marriage does not equate commitment. More important than marriage and a ring is the ability to tell your partner about your hopes and dreams....and feel heard in that conversation.

Just because you've waited a long time doesn't mean it will never happen. It may mean he's not ready to be married. Getting married is a big time in mans life as well as a womans.     My brother waited 7-8 years before he proposed to his girlfriend. (They were together since highschool)

Mens thinking is very simplistic compared to women(who tend to over analyze), so if you are already living together then to him,  likely the only difference between that and marriage is a ring,  which could lessen the importance of it for him since in all other aspects you are already "married".

I was in the same boat, and by our 2 nd anniversary, there was nothing, I was soooooo peeved. I realised, he can't guess what I want, and I needed to know what he wanted, so we sat down one day, and I told him my goals, I wanted to be a wife, he wanted to be a dad, and so here I am, married, and ttc :) it's about you making his dreams come true, and him making yours, and then there will be happiness :) you are his queen, he is your king :)
